Lyrics
Another song about Jesus
lifts my spirits, soothes my blues.
Another song about Jesus;
Can you hear it, callin' you?
I sat down the other day, with a heavy heart
tryin' hard to find a way, to find a place to start;
To start again, to find a friend, to fid the words to
say,
But he pain inside just confused my mind,
and took my words away.
All the music that I knew sounded out of place.
I couldn't sing another tune; it all was empty praise.
Then I heard from far away, a plaintive melody.
It was risin' up like the break of day,
to breathe new life in me.
Another song about Jesus
lifts my spirits, soothes my blues.
Another song about Jesus;
Can you hear it, callin' you?
After quite some time had passed, I was standing tall.
God had brought me peace at last, brought me thru it
all.
I could feel the good in me, the gifts that I could
give.
It was God who gave me the strength to see
the way to love and live.
Living in sadness, an hour fills a lifetime,
a day an eternity of sorrow and loss.
It drives you to madness, then God throws you a
lifeline.
Rely on the One who lives and carry your cross.
You'll sing a new song!
Another song about Jesus
lifts my spirits, soothes my blues.
Another song about Jesus;
Can you hear it, callin' you?
Can you hear it, breaking through?
Can you hear it, God's good news?
Can you hear it, Callin' you?

Inspiration
My son, Simon, was born very prematurely at 23 weeks
gestation. All the odds were against him. It was a difficult
time, to say the least. He was in intensive care for almost 3 months and has had a
number of surgeries and health issues along the way.
This song came to me with some difficulty. It
started as a very cynical song: "Ah, they just want another song about
Jesus." I had to listen very hard, above the noise of Simon's illness,
above the adversity and lack of sensitivity of some, to hear the new song
that God had for me and my family.
Simon is doing well now, much better than we could ever
have hoped. He has an amazing determination, and an incredible drive
to learn new things despite some developmental delays. I hope that his
story and this song might provide some hope for others who are facing
difficult times.
