"I need the fruit of the vine, crushed down and poured;  I need the broken bread, the body of our Lord; I need the water of life, so please dunk me down; I need to know for sure that I'm glory-bound."

from the title track, "Fruit of the Vine

"A transformation has begun; now women lead when others run.  The church will never be the same.  The Holy Spirit is to blame for troubling waters long asleep.  We pray the LORD our church to keep, that God would help us move ahead, like Jesus said.

"You can now purchase my CD online here, at the bookstore on campus at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Other activities lately within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

In 2004 I co-wrote a song for New Church Ministry, "Lift Your Spirit!" that was mailed with the Pentecost offering materials to every Disciple congregation.  I've been mailing and faxing sheet music to churches that are using the song all over the country.

July 14-18, 2004, I coordinated music and did song-leading for the Sessions 2004 men's conference.  What a blast it was!

In September, 2004, I helped host a consultation on transforming worship as a member of the Worship Workgroup for the Disciple of Christ Mission Council.  Next, the Workgroup is planning a pre-assembly conference, ESSENCE, for Portland before the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  I'll also be singing with the praise team for worship one evening during assembly.

In February I sang a mini-concert at the Christian Church in Indiana's clergy and spouses retreat.

This summer I hope to record a new CD of music for worship.

I've been enjoying all of these ministry opportunities and pastoring at University Park Christian Church.  If you're in Indianapolis, please come visit us at 46th and Illinois!"

Fruit of the Vine CD Photos (These pictures are in the CD artwork.)

My parents both grew up on farms.  This picture was taken (c. 1940?) on the raisin farm outside of Reedley, California, where my mother grew up.  (For those of you who are agriculturally challenged, raisins are dried grapes.)  The little Isaak girls sitting on the bins are my mother, Virginia, and aunt Winifred.  My grandfather, James Isaak (on the right), is holding up the last tray of raisins of the season.
Another picture in the vines.  At right is my father, Dwight Carlson, with the grapes he has picked on my mother's family farm.  This picture is from around 1953, when he was still trying to impress her.  Note the full crop -- of hair sticking out the top of his hat.  Of course, times have changed, and I'm following the family tradition and rapidly gaining face (not losing hair, mind you).

"Fruit of the Vine" was recorded by Andy Symons at The Lodge Recording Studios, and produced by Michael Clark of Midwest Music Works.
