"I need the fruit of the vine, crushed down and poured;
I need the broken bread, the body of our Lord; I need the water of life, so
please dunk me down; I need to know for sure that I'm glory-bound."
from the title track, "Fruit of the Vine
"A transformation has begun; now women lead when others run.
The church will never be the same. The Holy Spirit is to blame for
troubling waters long asleep. We pray the LORD our church to keep, that
God would help us move ahead, like Jesus said.

What have I been up to these days?
Lately, I have been experimenting with live
vocal looping. I'll soon post examples of my live vocal looping.
I've been performing at the open mic at The Queen Bean in Modesto to rave
reviews.
Also, I've been helping out with the Jazz
Vespers service at First United Methodist Church in Modesto, CA, where I now
live with my family.
And, I'm giving voice lessons at Gottschalk's
Music in Modesto as well.
So, between giving voice lessons, producing
music for clients, and repairing computers, I'm managing to keep busy.
But enough about me, what are you up to?
Drop me a line to let me know.
Peace and Adventure in Christ,
Michael Carlson

(These pictures are in the CD artwork.) |

My parents both grew up on farms. This picture was
taken (c. 1940?) on the raisin farm outside of Reedley, California, where my mother grew
up. (For those of you who are agriculturally challenged, raisins are
dried grapes.) The little Isaak girls sitting on the bins are my mother,
Virginia, and aunt Winifred. My grandfather, James Isaak (on the
right), is holding up the last
tray of raisins of the season. |
| Another picture in the vines. At right is my father,
Dwight Carlson, with the grapes he has picked on my mother's family farm.
This
picture is from around 1953, when he was still trying to impress her.
Note the full crop -- of hair sticking out the top of his hat. Of
course, times have changed, and I'm following the family tradition and
rapidly gaining face (not losing hair, mind you). |
